People of Torino
Torino | 09 - 2026
An afternoon in Italy. No plans. No list of places to see. Just walking, photographing, and going with the flow. It did not take long before I found myself settling into a rhythm. A kind of flow state. The feeling of my feet touching the old stones beneath me. Sunlight finding its way between the old buildings. The sound of the Italian language echoing through the streets.
Somewhere along the way, my attention slowly shifted towards the people of Torino. A glance from someone passing by. Eye contact with a stranger across the street. Someone looking through my lens. A brief conversation. A smile. Small interactions that lasted only a few seconds, but somehow stayed with me.
Not every moment needed to become a photograph. Some moments were simply there to be observed. I walked past a terrace and noticed a group of friends enjoying plates of pasta together. I heard a conversation between strangers, or simply watched people move through the streets. I did not know them, yet for a moment I felt part of something.
愉しみ | Tanoshimi — small pleasures
My walk through Torino started to feel almost like a dance. Moving through the streets without knowing what would catch my attention next. Sometimes I would stop and raise the camera. Sometimes I would keep walking. A moment would appear, disappear, and become nothing more than a memory. Other moments stayed with me long enough for me to press the shutter. Looking back at these photographs, I can still relive the feeling I had in those moments. Where I was. What I saw. What made me stop. That is what I find so special about photography.
One of the small pleasures of traveling with a camera is that you become a quiet observer of other people's lives. You get to witness little moments that would otherwise pass unnoticed. And sometimes, without saying a word, you feel connected to a stranger for just a second.
Perhaps that is what I will remember most about this afternoon. Not only the photographs, but the feeling of simply being there. Walking without a destination, noticing what appeared in front of me, and allowing the city to lead the way.
