Traces of stillness
Seoul | 2026
The rhythm of the city slowly fades as you step inside, replaced by the raw elegance of industrial textures and warm, ambient light. Anthracite, tucked away in Seogyo-dong, is housed in a former shoe factory — a place where past and present quietly converge, creating a space that feels refined.
The building unfolds across multiple levels, and with each floor the atmosphere shifts. The higher you move, the quieter it becomes. What begins as a grounded, tactile experience gradually turns inward — almost meditative. Like a meditation itself, the ascent brings a deepening sense of stillness, a gentle retreat from the world below.
余静 | Yojō — what remains
The design allows the space to reveal itself slowly. Nothing demands attention, yet everything feels considered. Rough surfaces, exposed structures, and subtle transitions invite observation rather than explanation. Secluded corners offer space for introspection, while communal tables hold moments of quiet connection. Traces of the building’s former life remain present — not as nostalgia, but as a quiet foundation shaping the experience.
Intention is present in the way the space holds itself, in the pauses between forms, and in the gentle restraint of materials and light. Imperfection feels settled, as if it belongs to the rhythm of the place. Attention settles naturally. The atmosphere unfolds at its own pace, inviting a slower way of moving through the space. Stillness emerges gradually, layer by layer.
