New Mags
Copenhagen | 2026
Many trips have taken me to New Mags over the past year and a half, yet not a single visit to Copenhagen passed without stepping into the bookstore. There is something about books that feels calming — quiet in a way few things are.
That same sense of stillness continues throughout the space itself. Designed by Norm Architects, a contemporary design studio from Copenhagen known for creating silent and timeless spaces, the bookstore carries a sense of understated elegance. Calming in its simplicity and soft color palette. It feels like a place that gently slows you down, by intention.
見る | Miru — to observe
Pages are turned quietly, footsteps soften, and time seems to loosen its grip for a moment. Surrounded by books, paper, and carefully curated objects, the bookstore becomes more than a place to explore — it becomes a space to observe.
Perhaps that is what keeps drawing me back to New Mags. Not only the books themselves, but the quietness that lingers within the space — inviting you to notice the world a little differently. Someone once sat with an idea, shaped it into words, designed its pages, and placed it on a shelf here. Somehow, that feels deeply intriguing.
