Finding a rhythm

Sóller | 06 - 2026

“Once in a while you experience something unique. Meem Townhouse was that for me. Lovely people, the calmness, and the food. Take good care of this place because it is something special.”

I wrote these words in the guest book of Meem Townhouse in Sóller. Looking back, they capture something I found throughout my time in Mallorca. In particular there was something unique about Sóller. An old and authentic town tucked away in the mountains. Its narrow streets open onto the rugged landscape surrounding them. There is something deeply calming about that contrast. It feels as though the town exists at its own pace. Slightly removed from everything else.

I came to Sóller for the cycling. Not simply to ride, but to reset. To find my rhythm again. There is something about being on a bicycle for hours that brings everything back to something very simple. The road ahead. The mountains around me. And myself somewhere in between.

リズム | Rizumu — rhythm

The roads make it easy to lose track of time. They wind through the mountains and along the coastline. Some roads feel almost unreal in their beauty.

In the mountains, even the smallest sounds become noticeable. My breathing becomes part of the silence. So does the rhythm of my heartbeat and the movement of the padel strokes. Everything else seems to fade into the landscape. There is no need to think beyond the road ahead. Just one stroke after the other.

Meem Townhouse became an extension of that feeling. Small and minimal. But above all, it was the people who made it special. After a long day in the mountains, it was a place I wanted to return to. A place where the day could slowly settle. Where I could recharge and simply be for a while.

Perhaps that is what I was really looking for in Mallorca. Not just the mountains or the roads. Not even the cycling itself. Something much simpler. A few days to slow down and listen to myself again. To find a rhythm.
